Sunday, 6 August is the day Arsenal will play against Man City at Wembley Stadium for the FA Community Shield title. This is a traditional season curtain-raiser event where Arsenal is determined to prove they can once again challenge the champions.

The FA Community Shield usually features the winners of the Premier League and the FA Cup. Funny enough, Pep Guardiola’s side won both last season – as well as the Champions League.

What are the Bosses Saying?

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta:

“The FA Community Shield is a trophy, and when there is a trophy on the table, you want to win. This will be our approach today against a very good Manchester City team.

“Of course, we know what we are up against. We have full respect for City and their achievements last season.

“For me, they have raised the level, along with Liverpool, over the last six years to somewhere that the league has never experienced. And they’ve done it in a context where the overall level of the league is much higher than in the last 20 years, that’s for sure.

“So we know that to win the Premier League, we know we are probably going to need about 96 points or 100 points.”

He continued: “It will be great to experience Wembley together again with our supporters. For our last two matches here at Wembley when I’ve been manager, there were no supporters in the stadium.

“So it’s going to be a great occasion today where we can be together at this wonderful football venue.”

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola:

“Today we face Arsenal, and it’s always a great occasion when you get the opportunity to play them at Wembley.

“They are a top side with a manager I respect a huge amount, and this stadium is one of the best in the world.

“We have so many amazing memories here, and I hope we can make some more today.

“The reason Arsenal are here today is because they did so well last season. They pushed us so hard, and it’s clear Mikel has put his stamp on the team. It will be really tough for us, there’s no doubt about it.

“Thank you again for being with us and I really hope we can enjoy another great season together.”
