Former England football superstar Michael Owen has signed a deal with SunBet to become the brand ambassador in South Africa. With the new agreement, the multi-talented player will feature in several campaign initiatives to boost the brand’s awareness nationwide.

Owen has made a name for himself in the English Premier League football clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool, and Newcastle United. He has also played in the Spanish La Liga under Real Madrid. He has an outstanding score record with 40 goals in 89 appearances for the national team. Besides, Owen won the 2001 Ballon d’Or.

Commenting on the new agreement, Simon Gregory, Chief Executive at SunBet, said: “Anyone who loves the English Premier League and football, in general, will appreciate his deep knowledge of the game, coupled with his articulate and insightful commentary and analysis, which have made him one of the most sought-after football media personalities in the world.”

Gregory added that, being a top player, Owen knows what goes through the minds of players and managers at critical points of the match. This information helps him in his commentary and analysis.

Early this year, Sun International signed an extension deal with Kambi Group for its multi-channel sportsbook. The deal will see Kambi continue to deliver its sports betting technology and services online and to retailers. The two companies understand each other quite well, as they have been working together since 2017.
