All betting firms operating in Kenya are rushing to comply with the new law that requires them to remit taxes every day before 1 am. According to the new regulation by KRA, taxpayers must connect to various betting platforms to access real-time computation of their taxes.

The main reason for taking this move is to enhance transparency and accountability within the online gambling industry. Also, it is a clear strategy to crack down on all rogue operators in the country. The revenue authority is hopeful that all operators will be compliant before the second quarter of the year elapses.

According to the National Treasury Principal Secretary Chris Kiptoo, the integration of the new systems was one of the major reforms under the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).

The PS added: “This is part of the taxman’s new digital strategy to increase tax compliance as the government eyes a bigger slice of billions made from gambling.
