Betsson will be forced to pay €2.5m after being found guilty by the Finish Police Board for advertising gambling in the country. The operator has been fined for targeting Mainland Finland for running gambling ads on multiple channels over a long period of time. The reason is that Betsson is not licensed to offer services in the Nordic country.
According to the Finnish Police, Betsson changed its marketing channels, but the mistake had already been committed.

The police spokesperson said: “The National Police Board estimated that BML Group has a significant financial interest in continuing the activities and found that the illegal activities have continued for a long time regardless of the National Police Board’s previous control measures.”
Further, the operator has been ordered to stop publishing new sales promotion material targeting Mainland Finland on its gambling websites. It has also been ordered to delete all previously published promotional materials from them and refrain from marketing on other websites in the future as well.
Though the punitive appeal is scheduled for June 3rd, Betsson has an open window to file an appeal. This news comes shortly after Betsson published its gross profit for the Q1 of 2023, which is higher by 38% compared to Q1 2022.
